whats the budget?

something v. different to the K&H 300 would be the:

(i) the focal twins - the berrilyium tweeter certainly give you a different take on the top end and the twin drivers are v.v. forward in the lower mids may give you new insight into 200-300 spectrum

(ii) maybe something like the PMC TB2A?

(iii) and there is a v. reasonabley priced alternative - the avatone mix cubes.

All the above mentioned are great. Another I'd add to the list are PCM DB1S-A.

all depends on what part or aspect of the K&H you feel you need a second opinion? or what is not translating perfectly on other systems. i suspect that it is not the low end which is well reviewed for your monitors. maybe your looking for another take on the mids and top end?

the budget rules out the twins but you could chck-out the solos - same tweeter that may contrast well to the monitors you already have. i really liked the focal tweeters (super detailed/analytical) but not everyone's cup of tea.

tweeter wise it maybe worth listening to a ribbon tweeter like the adams range. i think the P-11A fits yor budget.

like the OP said the smaller pmc well worth a listen as well for another take on the mids at that price.

Thanks everybody!!!! I try to find a speaker for the level in the mix.(vox vs gtr...gtr vs drums...drums vs bass...etc).I think the ns-10 is really good for this application. Let me know!!!

another vote for the avantones. the last thing you need is another sparkling, detailed, full range speaker that favors the ends of the spectrum. get something that strips away all the fluff and puts you inside the heart of the music, the mids.

Yeah, NS10's or ****tones.
They'll give you a nice contrast.

It depends what you want to use them for.

If it's a second pair to use in different locations, then the K+H O110 would be the ones to go for.

If you want an alternative to use in the same room to listen on a different sounding unit, then these would obviously not be the choice.

The PMCs mentioned are good little units - I tried and rejected them in favour of the K+H O110D for my own use as I found them too coloured in the speech band for my use - but as a different colour of monitor to use as a comparison to the O300 in the same room, they may well be a good choice.

would be my recommendation!!

ubk said why.....it´s all in the mids...and I´ve never heard a speaker SO accurate between 120Hz and 17kHz (not really ONLY mids)

I´d say a one-way speaker is a great compliment
