So I pimped my Daw controller..

I bought two BCF2000's and had a furniture guy make a wooden frame for it; (Idea came from Joat, see thread here; https://gearspace.com/board/so-much-gear-so-little-time/343169-behringer-bcf2000-user-questions.html)

I did the stain and clear coat myself (which was a pretty crappy job but it'll do)

Note the different coloured faders, I ordered a few different Alps faders (one of each) to see which might suit the desk. Im going with the brushed metal looking faders and will swap out the others when they arrive.

I know they're not the best controllers going, but I thought it'd be fun to 'pimp' them and give me something nicer to work with in the home studio.

Looks killer!

Are the controllers actually attached to it, or is it just sitting on top of them?

I have never tried to operate plugins BUt...The faders work great, the pan knobs are great..if you push them in it arms the track fro recording, Mute, solo is good...If you hold down edit button and hit any of the four encoder buttons it switches from mix to edit and other thimgs...the preset buttons are for FF and rew. but if you hold down the edit button it will go to the beginning or the end of the tracks.....Its so easy I love it and have NEVER had a problem with it...I run it in BHUI mode!!!

you've inspired me to get one of those controllers and make a nice little "control panel" to house my keyboard, BFC, a little surface for a mouse and a nice little indent for my CS controller.

budget and potentially very sexy

Chris - the controllers are slid into the frame. If you look back at the first pic of the unstained frame, you can see little 'channels' that were routed out to accomodate the controllers.

Skip - Ive got a local furniture maker who built the desk you see in the photos a few years ago. I went back to him and he knocked up the framing for me. I just stained the wood and applied a few layers of clear coat.

Lol, the irony is not lost on me. Budget controllers with Alps faders and a nice wooden chassis.

Kind of like putting Mercedes rims on a Hyundai

Hi mate, no cad file Im afraid. I took Joats picture with me: https://gearspace.com/board/attachme...g-via-joat.jpg

And the guy I know did it by hand. I also left both controllers with him.

If you can shape wood that well I bet your great at mixing music if not you will be...

I find welding, carving, sanding and polishing much akin to producing audio.

It's funny how much my apprenticeship in panel beating has made me a great producer... it's about the layers, the shine and the big picture..

Nicely done!

I thought about attaching the shim on the back side too, but decided not to. It would add to the rigidity of the design, but I decided I try to do without it. Still, remains to be seen if I manage to do it the way I want.

I also think I'd change the fader knobs. I ordered some samples from Sifam for the purpose.

Pimp your Behringer!

Hey ! Have you installed the new alps faders yet ? Are you saying that you bought new Alps MOTORIZED faders ? Motors and all ? Can you give details on which one's you bought ? Model numbers ? thanks ! Luke P>S> Great job on that !! I'm thinking of doing the same, but with a bcf2000, and bcr2000 combo..

I wish Behringer would just make a 24 channel controller.

I'm also interested - did you replace the motorized faders, or just the fader knobs?

Very nice - I don't like the looks of those controllers but the ensemble looks great. Even though I'm more an oil finish guy. heh
