If you are thinking of the screens that you see attached to the U 48's in photos of the Beatles sessions---those were not a Neumann part. They were made exclusively for EMI to be used at Abbey Road studios so they will probably be impossible to find on the used market. What's wrong with the B.L.U.E. version pictured in your attachment? It's only $40!

Apart from looking cool, how do the BLUE ones fare (in terms of effectiveness and also not coloring the sound) compared to the more common Stedman et. al. filters we're used to?

If you don't like the name on the screen (I don't either), it can probably be removed without too much fuss, I would imagine.

Looks like the VIOLET mic line still makes one --albeit more difficult to mount. The larger "standard" pop filters work fine....Sometimes they just are in the way ~ for reading the lyrics > at eye level.... Especially with bifocals
reminds me of the EMI version ...fits a 60mm mic ...wanting to use it with our U89

I needed a second mic pop filter anyway. Think I'll try the Violet on my Pearlman TM-1.

Neumann has one as part of their 40th anniversary U87:

Don't know if you can buy it separately.

I bought 2 of these for $18.95 each, including shipping, on eBay.

And it looks like a nice one, too. But the last I checked, you could not purchase it separately.

I also don't want the screen to cost nearly as much as the mic either. You buy a decent used $200 mic > and then you pay $100+ for a pop screen

I had the same idea at one point, but it appears to be true that they are not available separately. And I'm not about to buy another U87 just to get the included pop filter!
