This guitar tone

I have a Hagstrom D2F. Im new to guitar and want to start practicing what I love and thats smooth jazz. Can anyone tell me how I can get this guitar tone between my guitar tone knob, wehther to switch on the front or back pickup, where to pick, and how to setup a virtual rig like in guitar rig 2 or one that you suggest.I have no external amps or gear.

Here is the tone Im trying to get.Just the begining part.

Im also including a second track. How do they get this piano sound? What kind of piano is it?Is it a patch, real piano, how its tune, how its played?

To be in the ball park: use the neck pick-up of a 335 type guitar, roll off some treble, use thick pick, flat wound strings 11's, a clean amp (twin or Jazz chorus) with a bit of chorus and some reverb.

But realy, most of this sound is in the articulation of the technique of the player.

Thankx.Has anyone here tried to accomplish this sound via amp emulation software? Any articulation tips?

Neck Pickup, Roll of a little top with the tone knob, plug into something clean and fender'ish. It's more the style than the sound. Try running direct if you want the super-cheese. In guitar rig I'd try the 59 bassman emu.

If you haven't already, check out some classic Wes Montgomery
and Kenny Burrell.
