using more tan one interface

Hi
I was wondering if more than one interface can be used at once

i do live recordings for a venue
and my interface is a motu 828 usb so i cant daisy chain it with another unit
i was wondering if i can use Tascam FW1082 along side my motu to get 16 channels
and if possible how could would i set it up in logic

Any ideas ?:S

Hi,
I use 2 firewire interfaces simultaneously in Logic. Your Mac can recognise multiple interfaces as an "aggregate device"- read up on that (you need to create a profile for it). Not sure if a USB one will work with FW though, it should do in theory.

Just have the motu installed as usual, don't install the drivers for the tascam.
Tascam adat out to motu adat in, and then you've got your 16 channels, using the analogue ins of the tascam which now feed directly into the motu and will show up as extra inputs in logic (adat 1+2, adat 3+4 etc).
Use one of the tascam's physical midi outs into the motu midi in and you've got your control surface right there as well.
Or do it the other way, install the tascam and use that as the master device, and hook up the motu to it via adat, just doing the opposite. This will give you a firewire connection rather than usb and tascam's drivers which are solid on pc, plus a more extensive set of midi in/out.
I wouldn't recommend running two multichannel usb devices on any system, pc or mac.
