dangerous 2bus-LT and API 8200A... possible?

hey slutz-

I'm in the process of changing my record/mix setup slightly.

my standard setup is using a dangerous 2bus-LT for summing, but I just recently traded a piece of gear for an API 8200A. eventually, I want to get another 8200, but in the meantime I'm wondering how to incorporate the API in my setup with dangerous right now.

here are two possible scenarios I've thought of:

the API has direct outs for each channel (8). was thinking that I could route audio through the API just to flavor the sounds, take the direct outs and feed them back into the dangerous to sum.

another option I'm thinking would be to sum 8 channels in the API, then take the stereo outs and feed them into the xpansion inputs (stereo) on the dangerous to sum with the additional 8 tracks hitting the dangerous directly.

anybody have any experience doing this?

I'm limited to 16 tracks d/a with setup (2626/apogee da-16x).

thanks.

The following options make sense to me:

Sub mix some tracks on the API and then go into the Dangerous to be mixed with the rest of the tracks. This gives the API flavor to whatever tracks you mix with it (drums!)

Sub mix some tracks on the Dangerous and then go into the API to be mixed with six more tracks. This might give more flavor overall because the whole mix goes through the API.

You could use the direct outs of the API but then you would not get the flavor of the API mix bus.

i know several guys who use two or more summing boxes of differing flavors. it's no different than using an old 1604 or melbourne is for drum tracking/submixing, which then gets folded into the larger desk where everything else is patched.

The D2b LT has some aux inputs so adding another summing box is easy
