Big Muff
Turbo Rat and Vintage Rat (with LM308 op amps)
Boss delays
Vox V848 "clyde mccoy" Wah
homemade and slightly tweaked Tremulus Lune 6-knob tremolo (PCB ordered from 4ms pedals). I love tremolo!! this one can get lots of variants
Sea Monster fuzz (one of a kind, trashy and bright)
Ampeg Scrambler
modded boss DS-1s (for variations on that nirvana thing)
...counting on my homebrew Small Clone to be sweet, when it's finished

I guess I love extreme fuzz and distortions, agreeing with a previous poster who prefers to get overdrive from my fully capable amps.

gonna have to pick up a carbon copy and a double muff! maybe a memory man....

I love the sound of the guitar plugged straight into the amp, as stated by someone above. It works most of the time. Whenever I see a guitarist play and they have a forrest of pedals at their feet, the sound almost always is insufferable. There are certain notorious genius exceptions to this (three of them are in Radiohead), but for the most part a zillion pedals means terrible taste.

Raw guitar played with fire and zest, plugged into great amp and cranked = rock'n'roll. Don't overlook this default. Listen to "London Calling" one more time and get schooled. Top that, fellow pedal dorks!

Lecture over. Moving on.

I own a fantastic Gibson SG that just sings, and saving up for a Trussart rusty telecaster. (These things are insane, if you haven't played one. The tone is fantastic and unique. Also, umm, my most revered guitar hero in history plays one. It should be noted however that I am not, and never will be, half the guitarist Marc Ribot has been all of his life.)

Favorite amp: Tone King Metropolitan (local amp-making genius, pricy but worth the dough. Start saving up now!)

Only pedals I own:

Keeley modded AD9 bucket-brigade-style analog echo echo echo echo echo.

and three different brands of fuzzy wuzzy coloration:

Crowther Hotcake
Crazy Horse
and the Pfeiffer Fuzz-O

cheers,
c

How does the retro-sonic stack up to the original CE-1?

My faves are DynaComp, TC Chorus/Flanger, Ibanez AD9, EH Small Stone, Big Muff. They are all vintage except the big muff but the reissues are cool too. I've been really into the Boss DD2 (and DD3) lately as well.

I play a Tele through a Hotrod (want bassman next)

T-Rex Alberta
Eventide Time Factor (just won it, so still learning)
Korg PitchBlack Tuner (possibly the most useful thing i own, especially during recording)

Would like a TC NovaDrive (parallel, A/B, B/A, gain-staging, presets = cool)
Also have a Morley Wah floating around somewhere (friend borrowed it years ago, suppose that makes it gone, baby, gone)

Bassist here. I started using effects in the 1980s when they were cheap. How I miss my old Ross Phaser that was lifted after a gig one night. I figured, keyboardists get to change their sound. Why can't I?

Boss Stompbox Tuner (sounds dorky but changed my life at gigs)
Fulltone Bassdrive
DOD FX25 (run through a DBX compressor, with sensitivity all the way down, for super dub sound)
Lastgasp Audio Labs Super Oscillo Fuzz (shocking, really)
Boss Octaver

Bonus: Favorite rack effect: Rocktron Replifex. I know I'm supposed to hate rack effects but I've had one more person shocked at the chorus, phaser, flanger and leslie tones I've gotten out of this thing.

[Insert obligatory "bassists aren't supposed to use effects" comment here]

[Insert standard retort here]

I really like the Whammy. I had the original but sold it because for live playing the power input jack was in an awful position. I was constantly having to repair the jack because of it getting kicked.

I now use the Whammy 2 which is more durable and to my ears sounds the same.

For guitar:

Colorsound Power Boost. That thing is evil...proper uncontrollable NASTY fuzz- not the smooth/mellow distortion that I find really boring

In the studio:

Small Stone
Carlsbro Flanger

I love the sound of phasing and flanging on almost everything from time to time- keys, drums, vocals, bass, pedal steel...but for some reason hearing it on guitar just leaves me cold.

Whoa, back from the dead indeed.

Still feeding stuff into the Mopho. Something bad happened to the blackhole distortion involving repairs and a bass player. The guitarist 'borrowed' the carbon copy a while back. The rotomachine I sold; seems I just don't like the Leslie organ sound.

2018 pedals.
TC Sentry noise gate.
TC Nova drive.
Moog Ring Modulator (the big one)
Eventide ModFactor
Eventide Space

and an OTO Bim delay on mixer aux send

Compressors:
- CALI76
- Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter

Distortion/Fuzz:
- TC Electronic Dark Matter
- Fulltone '69
- ZVEX Fuzz Factory

Have a dozen others but these are what currently get used. I also use a number of JOYO pedals which are great for the price.

EH Deluxe Memory Man (the one I def. can't live without)

Dwarfcraft Devices Great Destroyer & Twin Stags

Rat

OCD

Those are the 5 that I always want with me in any given situation.

My newest favorite is a Fox Rox Aquavibe. My friend loaned one to me and said "turn it this way for Hendrix, and this way for Dark Side."... it was accurate.
