WOW!! Korg EX-8000!!!!!!!!!!

Just picked up a semi dead Korg EX-8000 and fixed it. ($50)

All I have to say is WOW, ZOMG.
This is one great little machine! The digital delay rocks! The filters ROCK and this thing EATS vsti for breakfast!

I dare say I have it sounding like a much more expensive real analog synth.
Guys, this thing sounds analog but the wave form is digital and the filters are analog and there a TON of them.

I cant believe how it just nails the Rubicon sound!!!!!
At first I got it with the idea of listing it for $300 But now I'm really thinking how did I make it so long with out having at least analog filters in my rig, (I know its hybrid)

Ain't good scores great! $50!!!!! WOOTY!!!!

I had the Korg Ploy 800II and this thing is like its grand pappy!!!

QUESTION: Do NEW analog synths like the voyager or the A6 have Vintage vibe? I have never played any analog stuff.

In Unison mode this thing Rip's a hole in both heaven and hell!

Its a frickin awesome machine. Does the buttons up/down under the value editor and the "tune" pot" work nice? They are rare here in france in good state. Repair cost here is ridiculous expencieve...

The EX-800 has an analog Filter section and digital oscilators. the 8000 is probably similar.

There is a Moog Slayer mod for it that dumps tons more voltage to the filter
and allows you to sweep it with a KNOB.. woo hooo....

But for a great VST synth try

Admiral Quality's - PolyAnna
it kicks butt...

LeMauce, NO 5 buttons were dead.
1. Take the top and all screws off.
2. Get some good pliers and semi carefully but firmly PULL the cap off the button and then take the little white cap OUT.
Be carefully because inside is a little rubber part that will JUMP out!
Spray electronic contact cleaner inside.
DON'T spray them with out dismantling them!
They did a solid job building the buttons and they are not broke, they have dust preventing them from making good contact or the last owner used WD40! Don't do that! Use electronics cleaner!
All my buttons are smooth as silk now!
Word of caution, my button 8 was not broken until I put contact cleaner on it with out it being taken apart and I freaked out but its OK now!

LeMauce, I forgot to mention use a flashlight while you work the little white pad back into the button and make sure its "Back in the circle where it came from.

You can test press with a metal screw driver with the button dismantled to see if the cleaner fixed it.

I left the cover off mine for 2 days until I got ALL The buttons good.
Also after getting the white "Nubbin" back in the switch you can try a test press.

I am not an electronics fixer guy!

I will look into the slayer mod.
I feel kind of bad I sold my Korg Poly-800 for $100 but the thing just never sounded good no matter what I did!
