Best Vocal Tuner 2009

What is the best vocal tuner 2009 out there now in your oprinion? Hardware or Plug. Something that can really fix some somwhat out of tune vocalist but not take off the top and give dulling artifacts like melodyne?

Kinda sounds like you need to spend some more time getting to know Melodyne. I use it, think its great, and dont get dulling artifacts with it.

Autotune is the easiest one (plug and play)
Melodyne needs more tweaking

they are both okay but less natural then a H3000 in my opinion ... ymmv

I use Melodyne too. I'm not getting any artifacts if I use it properly. I've never heard it dull the sound. I'd be interested to hear an example of this. How far are you retuning the vocal?

Cheers,
Frank

The best vocal tuner by far is just getting a singer that can hit the right notes....

God I hate autotuning.... worst thing that ever happened to music....

Thank you.

Music has not been doing so well since all that crap started.

I just started with melodyne as well, was never a fan of auto tunes before.

That plugin (Im still on demo) is frighteningly good. Ive heard entire vocal takes shifted up an octave and known the singer and it sounded amazing (though in that case it sounded intendedly electronic.)

Melodyne all the way, in the right hands and if you know to handle it.
Autotune is to easy, overdone and bad sounding. But that is just my 0.02cents. Just lissing T-pain and company ****...

You´re right, it is the best sounding plug but a pain to use with the small interface.
Melodyne has the best Interface but it is sounding very harsh and it is killing the tone.
It also is not working good as a plug on AU.
I´m waiting for Cubase 5 with the new tune Function. I had my hands on it at the NAMM show. It´s using using the Cubase/Nuendo Pitch Engine, and that is by far still the best.
I tried nearly everything.........

Yeah, that's the only bummer about Tune, the interface is tiny. Hope Waves does something about that.

Melodyne is amazing but it is a bitch to learn, it is way more complex than you can know before you really get into it deep. I will go as far to say if you are getting bad artifacts, you don't know how to use it and need to get the video on how to use it...it is well worth it.

The only thing Autotune for sure does better is the T-Pain/Cher effect.

Yea but when you get inexpeirenced/crappy singers its a god send. They realise u can make them sounded than they ever did and come back for more, meaning your making a packet. Its a great app for smoothing out the edges if your going for that squicky clean pop sound.
