tube pre suggestions

hello, I'm considering two channel tube pres for fingerstyle ac guitar. what I hope to achieve would be in the sonic ballpark of the thick, clean, glassey sound of my 66 super reverb with old rca black plates. mics for the time being are mc930 and at4050. how about the pendulum?

The Pendulum MDP-1a works very well for me, but so do many other units. The MDP-1a has additional features that add versatility (DI with 2 input impedances, line level in, adjustable bass rolloff, VU, gain control and output attenuator). Sonically, it's great.

A GT SuPRE would be a contender here. Or a pair of ViPREs even better!

Sebatron VMP2000. This is a great pre and very versatile. Three different pad settings for varying "colour/mojo". Also it has two 3 position passive eq filters per channel to finesse the sound.

Bright/flat/air - top end eq

flat/deep/low cut for the low end.

I use mine as a pre and on my two bus.

I am a fan of all things tube tech. I find their pre's to be less "tubey" than others I have tried though, which is why I love them.

Where is EMRR at?

He's the tube pre guy. He would know what to recommend front to back in terms of what kind of detail you're looking for.

thanks guys for the replies, I'm reading up on all of them. the mercury looks cool, and the price on the sebatron is pretty good. I want a quality piece that will last. thick but clear and forward for solo guitar tracks where a single guitar has to get the whole job done. and if it also sounded great for male bari vox that would be a huge plus. I've been leaning towards the pendulum because as an acoustic guy I've always been aware of their reputation.

Aphex 1100, loads of gain and great on acoustic sources. people rave about the high-pass on it as well.
