Anybody know anything about Nichicon SE(m) caps? That's what appears to be all over the place on my channel strips.

For that matter, what about opamps that have OP 27GJ 8450 written on them? I have both those and 2001's on various channel strips.

email me and I'll get you some 18pins connectors for shipping...
Hey Todd,

I got the package in. Thanks again. Do you recommend a certain gauge/type of wire for these connectors? By the way, what kind of solder have you been using? Anything special? I also need to get a better soldering iron than the one I've got. Got any particular models you think work really well?

I bought some of the 63/37 off of Ted Weber a long time ago...
https://amptechtools.powweb.com/solder.htm

MCI had some crazy thick gauge wire going to the power supplies, if you keep the distance short, you could get away something smaller, the sense wires don't need to be thick though.

I might step up and do some fancy silver solder as I tear into this 528 though... I'm spending enough on it so why not!!!!

Heres a scary pic, not something many people get to see... I pulled the punch blocks off it today!!!! I used to think PB were awsome, I've grown to hate them... I pulled about 12 pounds of old Beldin cable out of it and I've got a loooong way to go. Gonna redo it Mogami and some standard XLR and ELCO

Okay, here's a few pics. The meter bridge is a little dusty and I need to replace some of the glass on some of the meters but all in all it's in good shape.

By the way, anybody know what kind of trafo's came in the 416b's? Mine was made in July of 73 if that helps. It was either Beyer or Jensen right?

So, I'm planning on building a shelf of some kind to sit behind and over the meter bridge to place my monitors and computer screen. Any ideas?

I had thought about making a very simple (level to the ground) shelf but then I got to thinking that my monitors might sit a little high for my ears in that scenario. So now I'm thinking about putting a slight angle to the shelf, with a lip on the edge to keep the monitors from sliding off. THat way they'll still be aiming towards me instead of over my head. I guess I could always lay them on their sides but I'd rather not screw with my stereo image. How's a 10 degree angle sound? Any other thoughts on this?

I did but I don't see any markings or numbers that tell me what kind they are. Do you know how to tell?

Oh, hey. My bad. I forgot to send you the money the other day. I just sent it to you right now. Let me know when you get it scanned and how you want to send it or whatever. Thanks again.

Ok, got the schematics done as well. I think I emailed the whole thing out to everybody who wanted the MCI 400B manual. The only thing missing was a couple pages from the "Specifications" chapter, no big deal.

I'm scanning in all my MCI JH-110 literature right now!!!!

So much information, so little time....

My trafo's look more or less like this. Are these Jensens?

These aren't mine but they're a pic I found on the internet.

Hey Charles (Charlesaustin),

I saw over at the analogconsole forum that you, at one point, were going to attempt to buffer your unbuffered meters on your console. Did you ever get around to that? I'd like to do the same but was curious how much time and cost would be involved.

Anybody know when the Beyer trafos were used and when the Jensen trafos were used?

According to the code on your transformers, you've got Jensens. I always heard the Beyers were very early in the 400 series. So I'd assume the 400a series had Beyer and possibly Jensen. By the 400b its going to be Jensen.

But then again, NOTHING is absolute with these old consoles, and someone who knows more about the 400 series can probably give a better answer.

Okay, so I'm looking at the serial numbers on my transformers and they read like this:

105-688 above 263 305

They look almost exactly like the pics I posted above. They all appear to be the same model and there's about 70 of them in all.

Yes and no. I now realize that there's not a switch for phantom power and it's a global thing. However, I don't really use many condensors at all so a standalone unit with two channels will be plenty enough for me.
