help with search function please

I'm currently doing some research for my diploma dissertation and using the search function here gives me a hard time.
I may be using it in the wrong way so please correct me but is it possible to let the search show you posts or threads that contain all 2 or 3 terms that I'm searching?

as an example: I searched for "non linear" and "non-linear" and the results page shows me every single post/thread that contains the word "non" as well.

Not sure about the search capabilities here but try google's advanced search.

Plenty of options and you can search within a site or domain.

1) the search function was upgraded a while ago to one that works well with phrases and multiple key words

2) A forum upgrade a few months ago DISABLED the fancy new search but this escaped my attention

3) it has now been RESTORED (today) - so try it again.

4) the 2nd search box down is this sites Google custom search - this ALSO is good for phrases - so try both when doing intensive searching

Summary: This forums search function used to be HORRIBLE, so we added Google Custom Search (the 2nd search box down)+ we upgraded the regular search to be very good, that was broken for the past few months - and now it is back again.
