Greatest wedding ballads?

What are your favorite slow songs for a wedding?

I've picked out 'Always and Forever' by Heatwave for my wife and I's first dance but we need a few more for the wedding. I love 70's soul but open for others. Post artist and title so I can search.

Thanks

Wheat Kings - The Tragically Hip
So I fall - Small Brown Bike

Those would be my two choices.

Although, last summer I did attend a wedding that played "Baby got back" - Sir Mixalot for the first dance! ... honestly, it was a hilarious change of pace from the norm. The entire place was roaring with laughter.

"There Has To Be a Morning After"

heh

I think "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Bros. is probably the definitive love song ever written.

Cheers,

Bruce Springsteen wrote "If I should Fall Behind" for his own wedding. It's a lovely song.

I only have eyes for you by the flamingo's is a pretty amazing song for the context.

The lyrics are unfortunately the most important part.

we used this at ours.. no joke.. it was fun but sincere:

The funniest muso story i know is this one....

A lass from Nottingham was getting married... and wanted the theme from Robin Hood to mark her entrance to the church and her father escorting her to the altar... Obviously being from Nottingham the Robin hood tale has a far deeper resonance than almost any other place..it would be the perfect, in her eyes, way of entering the church .. complete romance..

So everything is organised and the church organist is told ..The theme from Robin Hood...

No problems there then... only.... the organist being of a certain age... was not quite au fait with the Bryan Adams anthem and as the bride to be walked into church on her fathers arm the organist did indeed play the theme from Robin Hood... only it was this one...
heh heh heh

I had to sing Put Your Head on my Shoulder, Con te Partiro (in Italian), and Unchained Melody for three different weddings.

Each wedding ended in divorce within 3 years.

Never hire me to sing at a wedding, as I am bad luck.

A song about a man wrongly-convicted of the murder of a Saskatchewan nursing student wouldn't be my first choice of wedding song, but YMMV.

Do Canadians use Frozen Ghost's 'Dream Come True' anymore? That one was big for a long time...

I love playing at weddings and getting requests for songs like "And I Will Always Love You," "Every Breath You Take," "The One I Love," "Your Cheatin' Heart," "One Way Out," "Sundown," "Crazy," etc.
