Am I missing something?

Hi there,

I've being reading about "not using reverb on drums since overheads and room mics are being compressed to hell using parallel compression".
I could have also named the post "I don't agree" but I guess there's something else about it?
I know the effect of parallel compression and I use it almost every time, but not using reverb because of this is kind of oranges and apples to me.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Pupo

I think it's just a matter of taste, not how you compress your drums. I always put some snare through the plate that I have on the lead vocal at the very least.

i agree. it is about taste. for me, nothing compares, to a great sounding room captured with a great sounding chain. have never used a reverb that equalled that. but i've also never used an EMT plate, so my opinion is limited.
