Volume issues with Logic Pro.

I am using an Alesis usb multimix 8 to record and i have a mxl 990 condenser mic. I have the settings in the channel I want set up to record an acoustic guitar (on the mixer). I'm look to see that the led lights are reaching in between 0 and +3 decibles and I then record. When i play it back on logic pro, the volume is no where near close to what my mixer says. Whats the deal?

Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure your not monitoring the signal going TO the recorder, as well as coming from the recorder, as you may hear a doubling, or if the latency is good, a "twice as loud" signal.

You also need to make sure your gain staging is correct for the part your trying to record. I would print and acoustic guitar no higher than -10, depending. I find leaving my mic amp setting alone with a lot of headroom, and moving the microphone, helps tremendously towards the goal.
