Now we're getting somewhere...however those are converters. They just aren't converting to digital. They're converting tape and then back.

Just like DIGITAL there are good ones and ****ty ones.

There are some really nice converters these days, so my answer would be I'd record digitally....def not PT though.

I agree, except I'd do vocals on tape too, then I'd probably just forego dumping to digital and mix straight to 1/4 or 1/2" analog. Oh , wait....
