We cracked open our Masterlink and put in a new hard drive.Next thing to do is update the OS.
Having problems getting the Alesis folks on the phone so I thought I'd ask here.
What is the current OS?
Can the OS be burned to CD from a Masterlink that is already updated, then loaded on our machine...? ( a friend has a new Mlink) I haven't been able to find the answer to that in the documentation, but seems as this would be a possibility?
The downloads show the current OS as 2.15 is this correct?
You cannot burn a disc from another masterlink. I do believe that 2.15 is the latest os disc. You need to follow the download instructions on the site to make a working disc. I have never gotten this to work on a mac (my primary computer). THis will erase your drive and anything your working on the drive.

Thanks guys. I found out that the mac/toast download only works on Toast version 4 or earlier.....so, I got ahold of alesis and they were kind enough to get a copy of the new OS in the mail......the most recent version is 2.15
What's involved in replacing the hard drive in a Masterlink?
I'm assuming it voids the warranty, at least... not that I've even filled mine up yet once, but still curious... mine's one of the new ones with the fat hard drive, 24 hours or so at 44.1:16

It's really easy, a nut driver and a little patience...
Ours was the original rev. with a 4 gig drive.....pretty useless.
