help.

Ok, I hope this is not to off (forum topic...) but there we go:

I got a nasty tax bill, I am thinking of maybe buying PT HD and spending 20-25k on it rather then paying it for tax (expanding my business), any ideas how it works? Maybe other ideas?

Thanks in advance.

In the USA there is a limit to how much you can write off in any one year - the rest has to be depreciated. Have no idea how it works in England.

Is the tax bill for 2001-2002 or the current year?

ummmm.... Heinz?

are you assuming that someone from London is filing a US Internal Revenue tax return? I would have figured that he was dealing with the British tax system, but maybe you know something I don't know here...

AFAIK (and I'm unwell at the mo and can't get to my 'advisor'..)

it's too late for 2001-2002, but for this year you need to buy, or get an invoice , pro former (sp?) before April 5th. Any spending you do will offset your taxbill so it's worth doing if you can afford to...

Christ PTHD yeah why not? take the plunge!

Any real gearslutz answer (aka an egg on): OF COURSE!

Talk to a tax dude 1st. If you haven't spent any money on gear, DUH, of course! Where I'm at (LA, USA) I can only write off about $25,000 us dollars in gear. CD's / Cell hone / Internet access get's more complicated, thus: a good tax "dude", or "dudette".
