Thats a pretty nice MD421 he uses... he must enjoy the slight presence boost and proximity effect as much as the rest of us! heh

Kinda OT, but there was a guy in the studio the other day that said he preferred the sound of drums recorded through ADATS to the sound of straight to PT. Kinda different point of view I guess. What do you guys think? Will people start asking for the ADAT sound when they can't afford tape?

I think that's insane. Even if I'm going for a lo bit grit (like the SP1200 drum machine) I would never purposely choose an Adat. That's the 1st time I've ever heard someone prefering Adat's A to D's. To each his or her own I guess.

Well, I've often heard people say Glen Ballard chose the adat's for Alanis because of the "classic blackface sound"...whatever that is..??..?? Maybe it's a grainy topend.

I had heard they used the more recent Adats on that project. Anyone know for sure? I can't imagine Glen choosing adat (any kind) for it's sound. Convenience perhaps, but not sound.
