API 312 modules

Anyone using the 312 and 325 cards?

I just bought a card cage and will be wiring it up this week. Will also be looking for cards soon.

Anyone know the value of the potentiometer that goes into the circuit?

Thanks,

Joe

Api 312

You can download complete 312 pinouts and hookup info from
www.danalexanderaudio.com. If you still need info you can
email me and I could look it up for you. In any event that pot is
a reverse audio taper which might be a bit hard to find.

Thanks,

THe schematics on Dan's site had a penciled in comment about using a 1K linear pot, but Dan thought the API faders were 10K.

Does it have to be a reversed audio taper pot?

DO you have any comments about the input load? You can wire it for 150 ohms or 600 ohms. Would it be worth the trouble to wire a switch to go between the two or just wire it for 600 ohms?

Also the output tranny is a dual output. You can use them independently or wire them into series and get a higher output. Individually one is 26 db and the other is 22 db. In parallel you get about 30db out of a single output.

1. Pot: I use a series of different resistors wired to a switch so
pot type is irrelevant to me. You could use a standard
pot and wire it up in reverse. Try it and see.

2. Tranny: I only use 150 ohms, but some mics are impedance
sensitive so if you have one of those, or want to use
the card with a low level line source like a passive
RIAA network after a turntable, switchable impedance
sounds like a good idea.

3. outputs: If you give me a fax number off-list, I can fax you
wiring info about strapping the two feeds and
what kind of gain you can expect. There is a little
chart which gives you resistor values for various
gain settings using either or both outputs IIRC.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a bunch Phil

Phil,

The information you faxed was just what I needed to clear the air. I really appreciate your time and efforts,
