pro tools 001/24 mix

Why do tracks recorded on Pro tools 24 mix sound so much better than ones on digi 001?

I understand the fundamental differences with the systems but the recorded sound quality should be the same, no?

Thanks for any replies.

Possibly the different converters on a Mix + system,

Perhaps Mix + studios have better equipment around?

The converters on the 001 are not so hot at all. I purchased a Presonus Digimax (8ch pre w/ ADAT lightpipe) and it made a significant difference but certainly not as good as the other PT converters. Focusrite also makes a similar product. I send all my tracks through it into PT through the lightpipe. Plus, you get an extra 8 inputs through the lightpipie for a total of 18 in. Not too bad for about $700.
