Well folks at first glance this unit and bundle look's pretty darn cool. Specs are available:http://www.digidesign.com/diginews/7-02/digi002.html
Haven't had time to really check out the specs, but for people like me (a motley group who think Fairlight Dream Series thangs are the way to go) the 002 provides a great way of having the best of both worlds, particularly as a portable rig. No XLR's though....
A mac Powerbook, Sony EQ, Digi's 002 AND a Fairlight.****in' Rocking!!!!

BTW IMHO I think the price structure is very reasonable and extremely competetively pitched - even in Australia.
So there.

I am pretty suer the Apogee AD16 does just that.

From the Apogee site:

For the first time in an Apogee A/D conversion system, the AD-16 supports the Sonorus S/MUX specification for sample-splitting of high sample-rate audio data into multiple ADAT-style optical interfaces.Additional light-pipe outputs are provided to deliver up to 96 kHz digital audio from all 16 channels in this mode. A special port is also provided for future expansion. http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/prod_ad16.html

Not sure about Digi lightpipe, but YES, 96k can go down lightpipe. I have a Samplitude rig with an RME Hammerfall card being fed 96k lightpipe from my Mytek convertors.
