procontrol configuration, please help?

Hey guys,
I am thinking about purchasing a pro control for my set up, seeing as there was no new control surface at namm. So I'll do everyone a favor and purchase the pro control so it can be discontinued the next day and we can see what the next work station will be from digidesign. oh, and of course this will help lower the price on the pro contol for you all too.

So any way how would you configure the set up main unit, # of fader packs, Edit pack? 3rd party? Budget is a concern, I'm no Joe Millionare, oh actually he's not either.
Thanks,
Bruce

You can't move more than 16 faders at once with two hands, so get a main unit & one fader pack!

That will do ya fine!

Thats what I got!

I'll second 16 faders. I started with only the main unit and if you have lots of tracks it gets a bit crazy. Unless you're really rich 24 faders is a bit of a luxury. Good luck!

I have a weird discontinued module made by Gallery that is an empty fader pack filled with a keyboard, joystick & trackball mouse + 70 "hot keys" that are programmable to start PT command macros.. (like nudge, new tracks, insert folows scrub etc) - it was called Mission Control.

The EditPack does some of this and more...
2 x joysticks
Surround metering

But it is hellish expencive..

But its SO handy IMHO to have the keybeoard & mouse INTEGRATED into the ProControl work surface... so...

Again thank you,
the pro control is still a better idea than the control 24, eh?

Like Jules allready pointed out .... 16 faders is perfect and rather then going to 24 I would advise to look into an edit pack. It is very expensive yes but oh so nice to have. Up to the point that I would have a hard time choosing what to give up first .... the extra 8 faders or the edit pack.
