Charles Dye ! question on AC1 presets

Hi Charles,

Sorry if this question been answered before but i did a search and can't seem to find it.
You mention that you mix through AC1 on your main bus and your starting preset is console 1 or 3 BUT what do you use for input/drive and ouput as starting point ???
I will be mixing an Jazz/Fusion album in the box and would like to try inserting AC1 on the main bus for the first time.
Thanks

No offence dude. But the thing has like 4 controls. Have you thought about using your ears with that particular plugin.

the input and output will be entirely dependent on the source material. Go on give it ago yourself, I know you can do it

I leave Drive set as it comes up with the preset usually. I turn up the Input by listening for the desired saturation in the songs loudest sections. Obviously different styles of music sound better with more or less amounts of it. And I normally leave the Output set to "0".

Hope this helps.

Good point; but 'ouch'!
Yeh, it may seem a little harsh but there is no really nice as ninepence way to say that.

I could understand the need or desire for a little help if it were something like channelstrip.

Anyway, charles has answered the question.

Hey vudoo and Charles . . .

Sorry if this is old news to you guys, but I recently discovered
something about AC1 . . .

I have been mixing "through" Ac1 on the master fader alot lately
and loving the warmth and character it adds to the mix . .
however . . . have you noticed that every time the yellow light
comes on, you get unpleasant distortion / clicking sounds?

I have found this to be true on all signals . . . vocals, guitars, etc.

The easy fix is to simply turn the Input knob down until the yellow
light never comes on . . . this leaves you with warm analog tone.
I am mixing heavy rock, so I have to back off the Input knob as
much as -13 or -14 to avoid triggering the yellow light.

An easy test is to solo a guitar track and crank AC1 input until the
yellow light is flickering frequently . . . you'll hear an unpleasant
distortion.

Otherwise . . . AC1 sounds great!

Beware the yellow light . . .
