Looks really nice...Harrison has a good reputation. There is a guy up here in Orlando that has one. He's having some unfixable noise issues, but I don't know if that's common place. Other than that the console sounds great, very solid & clear. What kind of deal are you getting on it?

My buddy, Lou Holtzman, loves this desk much.

It's the second one he purchased. It will go in a new studio he's building in the lower eastside of Manhattan. His original partner has the first one they bought.

Matter of fact, he just had GLW modify the used one he just purchased...

GLW updated the desk, by removing the patchbay, making it mobile and adding a bunch of modules in the main frame.

I'm gonna email him a link to this thread. Hopefully, he will reply to it and give you some insight on the unit.

Here's one of the pictures he sent me from GLW's Nashville shop.

SeriesTen

I ran the Mac--SeriesTen at Eastside from 1989-2000 and did not have 1 down day. It is truly the first analog/digital hybrid --recording Sevendust to Tommy Flanagan- I was automating in 1989-full dynamic linear automation of every feature-other boards are a joke. I am sick of mixing on other peoples neve's with Protools- Amazing how relevant a SeriesTen is in 2003. Rest in peace Dave Harrison-you truly delivered like you said you could.

Didn´t Westlake have on of these?
You bought a console without hearing it first?

Harrisons were nice consoles(They could also be a technicians nightmare).

The Series 10B is an excellent mix console. The price you got it for is great.

I think Bob Brockman still mixes on one here in NYC.

The Westlake one was a Series 32, highly modified with API,Jensen and Neve amps(it was modded for B. Swedien when he mixed MJ's Thriller). B. Swedien also had one in his home(John Klett i know worked on it and you can ask him about it at the PSW).

If its in excellent shape you got a nice desk. If its not in the best of shape than you are in for some headaches.

I am repeating myself here but I bought the 10 B back in 1989- Had probably the first of the Mac interfaces. Bob Brockman uses it now at his studio. I had it running at EastSide Sound for 11 years without a down day. You made the right move. I am now setting up EastSide Sounds new 104 input SeriesTen at the newfacility and it is coming along fine. David Harisson rules and he certainly had many true fans over his amazing career.

Of course I did test the console before I bought it. I fell in love with the eq right away. Bass so tight you could die for, mid so creamy, high so sweet. Dynamics smooth and useful. What I didn't´t test was a full mix. But what I´ve heard from Steve Hodges mixes, it´s very dynamic and got a WIIIIIDE stereo image.....heh
The console is fully refurbished and serviced. Re-capped as well. Patchbay gone through totally. Faders have been clean up, so have the frame work.

Lou,

You´re studio looks really nice. The desk is sooooo beautiful!! Hope the installation goes as planned. 104 inputs, wow!
Would be nice to have a cup of coffe or five hundred with you when I get to N.Y, hopefully this summer....

Cheers,
Tobias
Hey Tobias,

That's excellent!!!

I am sure you will like it.

I always thought it was a great console for mixing.

Steve does some things on it that only he gets away with. One thing I saw him do in the past is overshoot the summing buss and i mean "hit it really hard"(way past red!!!). And it sounded fantastic, where on other mixing consoles the sound would break up.

He is definitely one guy that lets his ears do talking.

That's one great thing about Harrisons, they can take the punishment.

I don´t know what you mean by film version. I think they did only one Series 10B. Its laid out so you can mix stereo, 4 ch or 5,0 or 5,1.
Maybe you mean the Series 12? But I don´t think they will sell for $16´

Well Lou, 10 years on from your 2003 post all you said is still relevant. I have your original Series 10B from 1989 up and running and sounding amazing. I recently completed a remix of British Band Status Quo's album "Rockin' All Over The World" that I'd recorded at Tobias Lindell's Studio Bohus when the studio had a Harrison 3232 in 1977. Keeping it in the Dave Harrison family so to speak. Best John
