how do you see music?

Example:Beatles #1 up to e rigby its sun light ,from penny lane
and on its artificial light (the kind on soap operas)Princes purple
rain i see night with blue lights etc .For mixing i see instruments
in certian places but also example:hh i can see it but also streaks
of steel as they hit,bass is like a thick worm or round dark gray
colour . does anybody get the same type of pictures in a mix or cd?

Sorry, couldn't resist...

People have all sorts of different ways of trying to visualize a mix. For me it depends on the music. The real trick is to impart that vision into the mix in such a way that it takes the listener there as well. A really good example of this is the original recording of "I only have eyes for you"(title?). For the life of me I can't remember who the artist(s) were but while you're listening to that track you can just about taste the evening mist in the air as you lean against the corner lampost watching the singers walk into the darkness as the track fades...
