New Pro tools software

Heard from a very reliable source that digi will ship a major update ver 6.x of pro tools this coming sept. This was from the same source that predicted the new HD hardware and he was dead on - even with the release dates.. so there just hold on for a few months... and yes it WILL support us old mix users.... he he

I'm looking forward to a software upgrade, but I'm not in any big hurry to go OS X. I have a feeling when PT goes to OS X, Mix and LE users will find themselves in the same boat as the people who jumped into HD early on: no plugins. It would be nice if they can put out a software upgrade that spans OS 9 & X until all the plug-in manufacturers get OS X compatible.

I can't wait to say "later" to OS 9. Pro Tools is the only reason it still resides on my HD.

Hopefully Digi is providing it's 3rd party developers with working betas that might speed up the plug-in upgrade issues. One can only hope.

Right on. The new PC version offers 32 tracks, which (we) Mac users should get as well. I hope the new version will run on both OS9 and OSX, so that plug in developers will have time to develop updates while we work in OS9. I'm sure most people will probably prefer 24 tracks with plugins versus 32 tracks without plugins.

Any indication from any plugin developers on the OSX issue? Waves just posted the 3.5 update on most of their plugins. I'm pleased with the performance boost, haven't noticed any quality loss in the ones I'm using, and the download was free. Kudos to Waves for this upgrade.

OSX looks great, and is certainly a major step forward for Apple, but I can't make the move until more apps are happening. I do graphic design, too, and while many applications are OSX native, there's still too many missing parts (other apps, printer drivers) to make it worth while to migrate to OSX. I hope Apple is giving software/hardware developers good support for developing OSX products. Silly not to, but then again, Apple can be damn fickle at times.

I can't see it being OS9 and OSX compatiable. I heard it was almost a re-write for OSX, so I cannot see them making it work with OS9 as well. Could be wrong.
Yeah HD was released what Jan and a few plug manafactures still have not upgraded yet, OSX will be a bigger re-write so what 12 months after go live for all of them. And then there are the ones that do not go over.

HD plugins killed
