It has a very wide sound, not a lot of coloration but is very open & large sounding, and very musical overall. If you have a production where the mix isn't cramped with many of layers of instrumentation, the Phantom C fits into this environment much better IMO as opposed to a dense rock mix with layers of guitars, etc...although I found it to sound quite good on kick drum and toms in conjunction with something with iron like an MP-2NV. IMO the Phantom would work well on an acoustic or jazz session where every instrument can sound mostly open and full range in it's own right. It's probably an excellent choice for voiceover and foley recordings too.
