Anyone heard or tried the Thermionic Culture Vulture valve distortion unit by Phoenix?
There is a rather non descript review on www.georgeshilling.com. It COULD be cool though. Stereo valve distortion - anything from slight colouration to 200w Marshall stack.
The best distortion unit I own is the input module on my (grey face) Arp 2600. It works everytime. Again it goes from 'warm' to all out nuke.
I also own a valve Metasonix Hellfire. The distortion from that is not so useable, it's better for weird synth sounds.
I'm contemplating selling my 2600, so has anyone heard the 'culture vulture'?

Depends what you are trying to do - the Culture Vulture creates some interesting sounds, but you'd be better off with a Pod for accurately re-creating guitar amp distortion. It has a character of its own, so you'd have to try it to know if you like what it does. And BTW it's http://www.george.shilling.com with a dot!
