Sony Dynamics. When are they coming?

Been demoing the Inflator, it's pretty crazy. I want to wait on it though until I hear the Dynamics plugs.

Anyone got ANY idea what stage they're at and when they might be released?

Cheers!

So can you give any more impressions on it Jules.. Hows it compare to the outboard comps you have. I know it is not going to be a replacement for a good comp. The only outboard comps I have at the moment are a Fatso, 1969 and the ISA430.
So two of them are not the most controlable comps.

Hopefully, the next version of the beta will be out before Christmas. I think the inflator was relased to the public less than a month after its last beta so, maybe dynamics will be available by the end of January...just a guess.

Anyway, Sony keeps extending my auth code because I've become so dependant on this thing. It's one great tool that equals and tops a lot of (but not all) hardware comps I've used. The comp section is extremely versatile and can be very subtle or you can add the warmth feature to fatten it up. It's also got a limiter to make things extra hot if need be and a very functional gate and expander. Needless to say, the Sony dynamics plugin has given me another good reasons not to leave the digital world of pro tools and use outboard gear.

The Inflator is a whole different type of product- more of a loudness maximizer/distortion type thing. They don't do the same thing and the dynamics "warmth" algo sounds different than the inflator. The warmth gives a track a mild to heavy thickening-very smooth. The inflator is capable of much more extreme sounds, but can be more mild if set right.

And to answer your question, I like the sony comp better than the one in the ISA430, Origin , Meek and 737, but not the distressor, fatso(totally different) and especially not the Requisite Audio stuff.

Hope this helps,

Jamie

Thanks,

So how do you find the expander on it.
Yeah I am not a comp mad type of guy.
The inflator made things louder and cleaner then my norm limiter DUY MAX.
Just did not give me the hand over the cash type of vibe like the EQ. 10-15% louder on stuff I do not send to a mastering house is not much. I do not go for the loud as hell mix, try to keep some dynamics and low end.

McDsp stuff is cool and is what I am using at the moment.
The new C4 is easier to use..

Another question for those beta testers. So how colored can it get?

Stefan ...

Check out the PSP plugs. The Mix Pack should be able to hold you over for a while and later compliment whatever else you might use. The comp alone is worth what they charge for the entire pkg ... which is very cheap to begin with

Yeah I downloaded the McDSP demos and the C4 is great so far.

I gotta buy something real soon as i'm using Channelstrip at the moment and can't get the compressor to sound like anything.

Which version of Channelstrip full or lite... The full is much better.
Although I am not using it at the moment, a little mcdsp, some focusrite, some duy tape sims...Thats the problem with plugins if you sell them there worth nothing.
