I don't have any before and after clips. I don't know about the audix compatibility. mine that I modded the sm7's, I removed the filters (didn't use them anyways) and hooked up the raw capsule like he sm57. I used the room that I gained when I removed the filter to mount the transformer in the sm7.
I found out later, that the sm57 capsule has the same Z as the sm7.
Tell me what you hear differently? How does the sound change?
Just gathering info before I consider having the tech open one up.
It sounded about the same with a little bit of presence boost in the highmids, but not as much as when the filter did. I noticed it worked better on preamps that I tried before, and the sm7 works well now where the sm58 and sm57 does (don't even need to change the gain when swapping between the three).

wow, very interesting, I prefer the T58 mic on this guitar amp, sounds really good
but I also like to use the SM7B to fight overly bright amp sounds that people sometimes insist upon. On a darker sound it's not so good though. Like this one.
the T58 one sounds like it would be useful more of the time on guitar.
We are in the middle of some ribbon mic videos and doing vocals tomorrow so, I will see if we can make time to track a with and without on voice to post then.
Guitar cabs are very telling and 100% repeatable so it's a good idea of how the response and tone shifts.
This TAB SM7B combo sounds very good . I have tried that mic on cabs - gtr and Bass and found them to be a bit too flat sounding . But It works great on Hat or Ride with the top boost . Was this without the top boost ? Would like to hear both versions with top end boost . This would great on a Kick or Bass cab for sure
