Hi! Yesterday I installed the Behringer 369 in my studio. I connected the outputs of the RME Fireface to the inputs of the Behringer 369 and the outputs of the Behringer 369 to the balanced inputs of the RME Fireface. When I change the Cubase outputs so that the entire mix is played back through the Behringer 369, with the compressor disabled, the mix sounds a little lower in volume than if it were played back directly through the studio monitors without going through the compressor. Is this normal? The RME Fireface is set to +4 dBu, as is the Behringer.
I am chating with the ai, maybe the compressor's midas transformers could slightly attenuate the gain even when in bypass mode. Perhaps this is why the attenuation is slight but noticeable.
Running audio through anything can change levels. And this is a Behringer. They get the job done, but part of what you pay for with the NEVE or Heritage clone is top quality, high tolerance components.
Behringer can't go that route because of the expense. Their mission is to keep the cost down while offering a functional unit, but you have to work around the anomalies that come with lower tolerance components.
I have the 76 and the KT2A, and both function beautifully, but there are some anomalies. And I've used and owned the UA units for years previously, and those were not without their problems.
