I am in the market for a really fine Tape Echo unit. I had my eye on "The Plex", the Tube Echoplex clone, but they went out of business a year ago. (This I just found out)
Can anyone help me find a manufactuer that makes new tape delays? I prefer the valve ones. but I would check out anything.
This is a very touchy area that always fades as quikly as it is made!
Hiwatt are making a tape delay. Looks very impressive. Long delay time , some cool control features , quality components. It's solid state however , no tubes.
A local vintage guitar shop that I frequent always has used Echoplexes. If you're interested let me know. I can either do an in person perusal for you or refer you to their website. Last Friday they had three Echoplexes. I have seen tube Echoplexes there also. And don't get me started on their vintage amps. That's where I bought my 72 Super Reverb and my 72 Deluxe Reverb (Their amps go way back to the early 1950's. The owner buys and sells stuff to Eric Clapton. Lemme know if I can help.
