Bereich03 density stereo

After talking about it on the Zulu thread:

Here are a few examples of a drum loop through the stereo Density.

The settings go from 1 (clean) to 6 (crunchier) with a boom A & B feature - B has a higher frequency shelf than A but they both go as deep.
On the Stereo version there is also a Vintage switch.

Mono is 400 euros
Stereo is 550 I believe.

Thanks so much, Paul. I’m going to order one in the next few weeks. Lots of color to play around with there. Some of those settings are huge.

Do you track with these?

Thanks so much Paul. This is the first serious samples of Bereich gear I've listened to.

I was about to pull the trigger blindly yesterday. This helps so much.

Would you recommend it for mixdown? Mainly recording jazz, funk and acoustic music

I think it's great for everything as the scope is so wide but it's not as heavy handed as say a Zulu. It reminds me of the Anamod.

Yh luv the bump it gives! Was eyeing these years ago! I think a stereo pair on the bus would be great for some boom bap and breakbeat stuff!

Thank you Paul.
After the sound samples I would buy a density immediately - if I didn't already have one maybe there is still space in my rack for a second one
Mine currently lives on the drumbus (Setting 3, Boom A, Vintage On).
The VU meter shows the saturation level. Sometimes I struggle with the input.
Paul, what saturation level do you usually use for your drums?

I use the same settings as yourself more or less depending on the source sounds.
With all my analogue gear I peak the VU's into the red by a few db generally.

Damn, its sounds big. All about the Boom A Density 3 Vintage. The balance is spot on.

That drum loop is killer.

Cheers for the test.

Do you have the stereo or mono or both?

It would certainly be cheaper to get the stereo one, and the stereo one does still have individual saturation control for each channel. I also like that the stereo unit has the vintage switch, which the mono unit does not. Definitely interested.

Sounds great. The stereo unit is incredibly tempting, especially as I'm trying to save money but also trying to fight off buying an LTL Chroma+ ....

I do find zulu heavy handed at times. As someone that primarily mixes and records hip hop, I wonder would a pair of densities help tame harshness from poorly recorded vocals, help the fight against digititus and add size and rms volume on mix buss?

Have you tried them on vocals?

I'm sold on it and plan on getting one. I just hope the company can keep up once the word gets out on these and orders skyrocket. We don't want another ZULU fiasco.

Michael from audiobereich is an absolute professional. He's a marstering engineer who mastered a lot of well known acts here in Germany. So don't worry.

Anybody here compared these to the Colour Palette TM79 and/or 15IPS?

Paul, can you please expand on this? How do they compare? Money no object would you choose the Anamod?

They have a similar vibe sonically but the Anamod eats transients like nothing else which is why it’s the Rolls Royce for the stereo bus. The Density is very impressive though and I need both in my studio.

In your experience, is there any real world advantage to having two mono units instead of one stereo unit?

I was thinking about picking up four of the stereo units but might be convinced of picking up three stereos and two monos instead. I would kind of hate losing the vintage switch on the monos though.

I like having a couple of monos but realistically I'll probably only ever use them in stereo. Plus it's not like you can use any more features apart from Boom in mono.
So the only advantage is probably getting rid of your money quicker
