I know this sounds ridiculous, but is there a way to use an old skinny white computer mic with a preamp like the 610/6176? Or even with a modern interface (I have an RME Fireface 400).
I'm trying to use my old computer mic for lofi sounds and can't get any signal... guessing an impedance mismatch?
Right now I have the 1/8th mic jack into a 1/4" adapter into an xlr adapter.

Try a DI box?
Impedance mismatch wouldn't kill the sound totally.
Looks like these mics are electret mics and require 5v power that typically gets supplied by a soundcard or laptop. Ordered something off of ebay that should hopefully power it.
