Bourns 82 rotary pots?

has anyone actually tried a Bourns 82 rotary pot? the blue ones? I am curious to know if they are worth the money? I've heard they are used on road guitars used for world tours because of reliability and lower noise, I also like the 'feel' of bourns pots compared to CTS, thinking of buying some, I would appreciate opinions especially if you have installed some into your guitar and have first hand experience of them.

I've used Bourns for over 30 years. Quality stuff, conductive plastic. A couple of Gibsons use the guitar 500k pots. Combined with no load tone pots more clarity is heard, less mush.

Less top end loss when turning them down. Expensive, but worth it.

thanks Jim, I think I'm going to give them a try, the only thing that concerns me is they are linear not audio taper, also can you use them for tone pots as well?

I like using Goldpoint (ELMAS) rotary switches on my studio gear. Now that that there are 47 position rotary switches, I've always wondered why it was never used in any guitar. I would imagine the clarity would be wonderful and most of us just leave the volume level the same for the most part - at least I do. Guitarists are traditionalists for the most part so I imagine this would be highly discouraged.

Mouser sells these. Audio taper.

the AT versions are tricky to find in the UK, I have ordered some from allparts, as for the elma switch there is no doubt they are amazing quality, that's what was used on original neve consoles, I'm not sure I'd want a stepped switch on a guitar but it would be interesting to try it, if you ever do try I think you should make a video about it, a lot of people would be interested in that.

I get shipments almost every week from Mouser to the UK.
