OK we should take this discussion elsewhere, but if I can indulge just one more post because this is an important observation.
If your DAW is generating the click, you will be playing to it not behind it. Wht has to happen is that your DAW has to account for any system delay and appropriately place the performance on the timeline.
This is HUGE. Protools does this flawlessly IMO, Logic is a bit of a nightmare to figure out between SWM on and off and the fact that you have to input the recording delay amount and the fact that it changes depending on your sample rate - well let's just say - a huge pitfall of Logic.
They way to check that you are in good shape is to run a snare out and record back in, zoom in and make sure that the snares are lined up to the sample. If they are not, your session is not set up properly.
