Focusrite designed Mbox for Digidesign based on an original Focusrite concept which concurred with Digidesign's requirement for a USB interface. It was hugely succesful with about 150,000 units sold before it was replaced by Mbox 2, which was (sadly) not designed by Focusrite.

Digidesign and Focusrite have enjoyed a close relationship for a decade but Digi has never owned Focusrite. Digi no longer distributes FF in the US due to commercial conflicts of interest but we remain friends. Digi still market Focusrite plug-ins and the joint-branded control surfaces Control 24 and Command 8 which were designed by Focusrite.
