You cant say a monitor is horrible after auditioning a few songs on them. You need to get used to your monitors and realize how they sound. Every monitor sounds different. I have a choice between $5000 Genelics with a sub attached or NS-10s that sound "terrible" everyday....and I choose the yamahas.
Generally the monitors that sound "great" are used to playback the mix for clients. IMO HM80s you need to get used to, but translate well.
i listened to them for over 8 hrs striaght across varying styles of music...each time it was as if someone turned the bass knob to zero lol. of course i hated them lol
