I had similar trouble as above with rp6s and when I went monitor shopping recently I ab'd all three rokits against the yammies and the mackie mr5s (didn't have 8s).

In use yeah the yammies are too harsh up close for extended listening but since I spread my set up out a bit I can work with them for hours without any fatigue. The true test is in the translation so i bounced a few clips from tracks i've been working on an listened to them on another system. No major surprises, bass translated well and things sounded pretty balanced overall.

Whatever anyone tells you go and listen to them if you can. My 2c.
