interesting thread
as far as final cut x i think the app will be available separately from the 'bundle' so if all you want to do is edit video without the something like 60 gig of stuff then why not ? i was discussing this with the guys at the video equipment shop and we figured downloading such a huge bundle is unlikely.
i can see logic x doing something similar where there's a version at the same price range as logic express. it would be the full version of logic x but wouldn't include a lot of the content that's in the studio package like fcx: the sound effects in soundtrack pro, esx24 sample library, etc
i do think they could split up the individual apps or just have logic or the bundle if the price is right and they remove the logic express tier. maybe make the rest of the bundle an upgrade option and/or with purchase you can download logic x from the app store while you wait.
it will be interesting if apple monitors all their software like logic and final cut. i really doubt they're gonna completely close the system like the iphone app store where you have to jailbreak it if you want to use alternatives. if it introduces tons of new bugs i might just stick with logic 8.
