-i think i really dig the DI sound compared to the amplifier sound, so if i want to record DI would i actually bypas the rhodes fx´s?

amp and mic a must?
thanks again!!
I have to tell you. If you get the suitcase model you are gonna wanna out a mic up to it. It will sound much smoother like that M vid. Direct can sound good sometimes... but it's like plugging a guitar in direct... after all, these instruments are ALL pickup based.
Through an amp is ALWAYS better. Through a tube amp KILLS. warmth. My tupe amp has a great sounding reverb... I can't fathom a Electric piano without at least a LITTLE verb. Tremolo is nice, phaser, flange, vintage analog filters, delay, wah... whatever. man it all sounds good.
I treat Electric Pianos like guitars. I love the sound of a clean guitar... but with a little bite it sounds nice too. I prefer vintage effects. I don't like to overdo the effects. To get a smooth sound, some analog compression works nice. warms it up a bit. reverb. lots of ways man. I would say for the sound you are looking for... find a nice phaser that has both a depth and a rate control. some medium to light phasing will get that sound. It depends on what you want, ya know.
