The original Gershwin ones have to be considered obviously as "authorative" although it is with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra so it is smaller forces (few string players), tends to be played in a very 30's jazz style.
For a modern version I personally quite like the Montreal Symphony Orchestra/Charles Dutiot on Decca records. Good sound and a great performance.
