While I somewhat favor sampled vs modeled, Pianoteq 8 checks a lot of boxes for me. Its small footprint is excellent; I launch the standalone player in seconds and capture ideas as MIDI. This immediacy has somewhat covered my need for a stage piano in the studio. The Pianoteq models work well in a mix and are decent for solo playing imho.
Moving forward I'll use both Pianoteq and one good sampled piano e.g Garritan CFX or Ivory 3 American D.

I always increase the condition slider a bit, makes the models more alive. Just in case you haven't tried that.
