Just looking at the clock speeds of the AMD 9950x vs the intel ultra 9 285k. I note the AMD base clock is 4.3GHz whereas the ultra 9 is 3.7GHz.
I'm thinking about a situation of recording on a track with something like Repro 1. (I'm using reaper). From my understanding this pushes the load towards only 1 core (as repro 1 doesn't have the clever multithreaded option of Repro 5 and Diva) and in this situation, clock speed would be of more importance than number of cores.
It makes me think (perhaps rather too simplistically?) that in this case the 9950x would have the edge over the 285k.
I'm not taking into account turbo speed......
I've been looking at the DAW bench results and I note that they use Kontakt as the Vi test and it's my understanding
is that Kontakt has a certain level of multithreaded capability (although I note some people report better results with that disabled).
Is my rather basic assumption about the 9950x having the edge in this situation correct?
