You are comparing a physical product with a digital product. The sound is exactly the same. If the logo is that important to you it does still work in the version you purchased up until this last update. If you need the logo even though the versions without the licensing sound exactly the same, you can do what you suggested and not update. I was merely pointing out the the fact that the code is the same but you won't get whatever is included in future updates. If you feel entitled to some sort of compensation, you are free to contact our support team but they will likely tell you exactly the same.
I am more steering the conversation into marketing and branding within the software plugin industry. The branding does sell product. No doubt about it. You can't just decide to swap out branding after the sale. It also brings into question things like, why did the Slash and Hendrix brands get dropped? Is it because whoever was involved decided the emulations sound nothing like what the brand proposes it represents or is it just cost cutting? So what's next, the Neil Peart drums will become "Rushed rock & roll drums".
