I think all singers who record themselves need and benefit from putting in a lot of time just doing that.. recording and listening to their own recorded voice.
Repeatedly recording your voice, particularly with various microphones, should help you get over a common hurdle for singers who record themselves. Hearing and objectively judging their own voice is very difficult for most singers. It is not unusual for singers to initially hate the sound of their recorded voice. That reaction makes it difficult to assess the audio quality and emotional effectiveness of their own recorded voice. It also makes it difficult to objectively manipulate the recording elements and get a result that is better, not just different. Different is easy, but being sure different is better is difficult when you are recording yourself.
No, your point was well taken. I meant I need more practice using my gear because I'm struggling right now just with the basics, like even using my DAW. But to be sure, I could also use some practice singing and playing guitar too!!
