I never was able to get the Kosmos Pro so I couldn't give you a fair comparison between the two units. Having said that, I haven't fired up my GRIP units in years. There are plugins that I think do it better these days. The GRIPS, while not expensive, were somewhat hard to find as well.

The bx Subfilter over on Plugin Alliance is an option. They have a free version you can try out.
