Sure, there is no substitute being in the room together and make music in real-time!
But that’s a different discussion. I’m happy that this option exists as it helps me achieve things I could not before.
Like I said in the OP, you still have to nail the vocal in terms of pitch, time and enunciation, because anything less and it will go off the rails quickly.
But we use compression to control the dynamics of our voice, edit out unwanted noises (lips smacking etc.), EQ to change the tone, and Melodyne/VariAudio/AutoTune to improve or fix pitch.
Going one step further to “enhance/augment/change” the sound, is it really that much different? I mean, to my ears it still sounds like me, just better.
