Hey there,
Question for you guys...
I've been auditioning/using a friend's pair of MM-500s for a few weeks and totally fell in love with them.
I purchased a used pair on Reverb from someone who had great reviews.
Unfortunately, there's a couple issues with them that I think the owner just never noticed. There's a rattle in the right ear when playing bass heavy material.
Additionally, the tension/clamping of the headband is looser than the new pair. The ear pads are also less firm (normal wear and tear I suppose?). Those are definitely affecting the sound I suppose.
He said he got them at the beginning of 2023 directly from Audeze at a trade show.
The headphones would still be covered under warranty service right?
I'm considering what to do with the seller/Reverb but does anybody know if warranty service is fast/reliable with Audeze? Any experiences?
Are the production runs resulting in significantly different sounding headphones? This used pair does sound different than the new ones, but is this likely due to the headband tension and earpads rather than the drivers or other internals? The new pair of MM-500s is absolutely crazy, and sounds similair in detail and resolution to my high end monitors.
I did email Audeze support but I'm not sure when they'll get back, and the window to address it with Reverb is closing.
Thanks for any feedback or comments of experiences with Audeze warranty service.
I don't believe those will be covered under warranty, I think it's just for 1 year for original retail purchasers. Not the best warranty in the biz but it is what it is.
The earpads do soften up over time, but that rattle sounds like damage and you'll need to take it up with the seller or get them fixed. Sorry man.
